Casa Joaquín is one of those inside / outside restaurants : as soon as you arrive it is your first question "inside or outside" – Its a tough decision. Stay outside and enjoy a barmey evening and watch the town go by at the centre of the main plaza, soak up the atmosphere and have a great meal: or go inside to enjoy a traditional Taberna atmosphere at the normal tables : be part of the hustle and bustle of the bar/restaurant (you are sure to be drawn into what's going on – receiving a running commentary and special involvement from the owner ~ seen here in a picture threatening to re-subdue a particularly rare steak with his traditional beef spears) Whatever you choose, you should have a great time, and really good food.

The restaurant is a firm favourite with the locals , taking large family parties in their stride, and a 'number one' local destination for the "Ex-Pats" (whatever country they come from !). The owner makes a special effort for all of them ;- Especially the English ~ usually greeting all and sundry with a heartfelt and joyous "Happy Christmas" or "Merry New Year" – whatever the date on the calender !

Most of the staff are family members, and like their father, seek to make your meal as enjoyable and pleasant as possible.
The Menu itself is extensive, and as we are now discovering in Spain : it is a "Proper" place to eat out – the full nine yards, instead of "extended bar food". Specialities include the Steaks – Char grilled and fine quality : maybe a couple of euros more expensive than some other places – but you are paying for what you get – top quality prepared in the best way.

If your steak is "not quite cooked to your liking" – and by this I mean you can be "very fussy" – then it goes back as often as is necessary until it is exactly spot on : nothing is too much bother.. Special mention should be made of the warm Octopus and Prawn salad – not only is it a tasty delight, but (and you should beware of this) , a starter that would easily pass as a full blown main course , so don't munch too much of the bread-sticks/bread – our advice is to wait and see what size turns up first : because usually its size will set you back a bit on first contact.

I am off to explore the menu again this evening: yum yum ...:)
